Peanut-Chana Dal Dry Chutney

I am a biggest fan of Khakhra and I can eat them any time, that too with anything. The one thing which like with Khakra is Peanut-Chana Dal Dry Chutney. This can be stored for 2-3 weeks. This can also be a good side dish for Dosa, Uttapam, Idli etc. and is known as Podi in South India.


1 cup whole Gram (Roasted and skin removed)
½ cup Roasted peanuts
2 tbsp Oil
1 tsp Cumin seeds
2 tsp Mustard seeds
3 dried red chilies
1 tsp Amchur powder
Pinch of Asafoetida
Salt to taste


Heat oil in a pan, add asaefotida, cumin seeds, mustard seeds, red chilies and saute. Then add peanuts, whole grams and saute for 2 minutes on low flame. Switch off the flame, add salt and amchur powder. Mix everything and grind to make a powder.
