Namak Pare is all time favorite teatime snack. Alike Masala Mathri which I posted earlier, this is another variety of dry snacks. These can be stored in airtight container for 1-2 weeks. We also make these namak pare on various festivals.
1 cup all purpose flour
2 tbsp oil + oil for deep fry
1 tsp Carom seeds
Salt to taste
In a bowl, mix all the ingredients and add enough lukewarm water to make tight dough. Divide the dough into two portions and make balls. Roll the balls in the shape of big circle, not too thick or too thin. Cut into desired shape or place straight cuts using a knife, make 1” wide strips and then again cut them into 2-3” long pieces. Heat oil on a high flame and add these pieces (namak pare) into it. Once the namak pare come on top of the oil then reduce the flame/heat to low and keep frying till they become golden in colour. Take it out and cool it down, the namak pare are ready to eat.
