Today I am posting the recipe of Moong Dal Chilla which is a very healthy and protein packed dish. The recipe and process is very easy with most of the ingredients readily available in our home. There can be many variations to this dish which I’ll be posting in coming days. This can also be a good option for kids, probably in that case, you need to serve these Chillas with tomato ketchup :).
1 cup Moong Dal
2 green chilies roughly chopped
1 inch piece of Ginger
½ tsp Red chili powder
¼ tsp garam masala powder
Salt to taste
2 tbsp chopped coriander
Oil to shallow fry
Soak moong dal in three cups of water. After an hour, drain it and grind with ginger, green chilies and salt to make a smooth batter. Add enough water to get the pouring consistency. Add red chili powder, garam masala powder, finely chopped coriander and mix well.
Heat a tawa and grease it. Spread a ladle full of batter to a thin disc. Drizzle a little oil and cook on medium heat till the underside is done. Carefully flip over, drizzle a little oil and cook until the other side is done too. Serve hot with Mint Coriander Chutney or any other chutney .
Note: For Jain version of this recipe, don’t add ginger.
