1 cup Semolina
1 cup Yoghurt
2 cups Grated Bottle Gourd (Lauki)
1 Green chili
2 tbsp Oil
2 tsp Cumin seeds
2 tsp Mustard seeds
2 tbsp chopped coriander
Salt to taste
Mix semolina, yoghurt and almost 3/4 cup of water in a bowl and keep it for half an hour. Now add grated bottle gourd, finely chopped green chili, chopped coriander and salt. Mix it well and if the batter is too tight then add little water.
Heat 1 tbsp oil in a wide mouth flat-bottomed 6 inch pan at medium flame. Now add mustard seeds. When mustard seeds starts crackling add cumin seeds. Now pour 1 cup batter in the pan, spread it and then cover it with the lid. Cook it on low medium flame for 5-7 min, till it becomes golden. Turn it around and cook it from the other side for another 5-7 min. Once ready, serve it hot with green chutney/ tomato ketchup.
Alternatively, it can be prepared in appe pan. Put few drops of oil in each appe mould and add mustard, cumin seeds. Now pour the batter and cook it on low-medium flame till it becomes golden. Once cooked from one side, turn it around and cook it. Once ready, serve it hot with green chutney/ tomato ketchup.
