Onion Paratha


2 medium sized Onion
1/2 cup Gram flour
2 tsp Oil + Oil for cooking parathas
1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
1 tsp Dry Mint powder
2 tsp Red chili powder
1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
Salt to taste
1/2 tbsp chopped Green Chili
1/4 tsp Fennel seeds
1/4 tsp Carom seeds
2-3 cloves Garlic (optional)

For dough –
1 cup Wheat flour
Salt to taste


Mix wheat flour, salt and enough water to make smooth dough. Keep the dough for 15 min.

In a bowl, add finely chopped onion, gram flour, 2 tsp oil, cumin seeds, red chili powder, turmeric powder, salt, dry mint powder, fennel seeds, carom seeds, finely chopped garlic and chopped green chili. Mix well and keep it aside for 10 minutes. Divide this mixture into 4 portions.

Roll the dough ball, press it, keep the stuffing in middle and fold from all sides towards the middle. Dust the platform with flour and roll it as thin as possible.

Heat tawa and cook both the sides of paratha at medium low flame. Add little oil with brush on both the sides and keep cooking till paratha becomes golden brown.
