Masala Mathri

Mathri is an all time favourite snack, which actually replaces the need of biscuits, can be part of your high tea and is also a good snack for the bachelors staying away from home. It is very easy to prepare and can be stored for long time. There are different types of Mathris. Today I am posting recipe for the basic one, which is made of wheat flour, instead of refined flour so it is more healthy too.

 Masala Mathri

2 cup Wheat flour
3 tbsp Ghee (clarified butter)
1 tbsp Carom seeds
2½ tsp Red chili powder
1 tsp Turmeric powder
Salt to taste
Oil for deep frying

In a bowl mix all the ingredients and add enough lukewarm water to make tight dough. Then make small size balls and roll them in shape of small size poori (circular) which is of approximately 3-4 inch in diameter and prick it with a fork. Heat oil on a high flame and add mathris into it. Once the Mathris come on top of the oil then reduce the flame/heat to low and keep frying till they become golden. Take it out and let it cool down, the Mathris are ready to eat……

Note: Above ingredients are for making 40-50 Mathris. It can be stored for 15 to 20 days in an air tight container.
