Raw Banana Tikki

Being a Jain, many times we use to have food restrictions like not having rooted vegetables etc. To enjoy the flavor of rooted vegetables (mainly potato) during such restrictive days, undoubtedly raw banana is the perfect replacement. To start experimenting with it, I tried to make “Raw Banana Tikki” (can say Jain version of “Aloo Tikki”), but with slight variation of having much more ingredients than a normal Tikki. It’s very easy to cook and gives utmost satisfaction as a perfect high tea snack or light dinner as well.

Ingredients:

1 Raw Banana
½ cup Paneer grated
½ cup Peas
¼ cup Bread crumbs
5-6 Cashews
1 tsp Green Chilli chopped
1 tbsp Coriander leaves
½ tsp Black pepper powder
¼ tsp Garam Masala
Salt as per taste

Method:

Boil banana and peel it. Boil peas also. Then blend boiled banana, boiled peas and paneer in a blender. Mix bread crumbs, chopped cashews, green chili, coriander, black pepper powder, garam masala and salt in a bowl along with the blended mixture.

Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions and shape them into a round, flat tikki. Heat a non-stick pan on a medium flame and cook all the tikkis using little oil, till both sides are golden brown in color.Drain on absorbent paper and serve hot with Green chutney.
